Varietal: 100% Malvasia Puntinata
Winemaking: From a vineyard adjacent to the ruins of the mausoleum of Gallieno, Roman emperor in the third century. Malvasia Puntinata (freckled because when ripe it develops tiny dots on the skin) is indigenous to the Roman hills and part of the blend in Frascati wines. Being the most distinctive and interesting ot blending varietals many wineries are not producing wines made exclusively with this grape. Fermented in stainless steel where it rests on its lees for at least 6 months with frequent batonnage. 5% of the wine spends some time in barriques.
