Since 2005 Francesca and Federica run this 13 hectares organic farm in Colonnata Alta, Southern Marche, just outside of Ascoli, one of Italy’s most beautiful and yet undiscovered towns. The landscape is surprisingly mountainous, it feels almost Northern, an amphitheater of steep vineyards planted on mostly clay soil with great thermal excursion between day and night.
The main focus of the winery is the two indigenous white grapes of this area, Pecorino and Passerina that have been known to reach unusual structure and complexity in this area. So much so that there was a sense of disbelief when consumers and critics began to taste their Pecorino, so intensely rich and aromatic that they could not believe it was the same Pecorino grape that people were used to know. For this reason they mischievously named their wine Onirocep, Pecorino spelled backwards, a wine that turns people expectations around.
