ROBERT PARKER Wine Advocate (Antonio Galloni)

Vigne Deriu - Cannonau 2007   88 pts   The 2007 Cannonau di Sardegna from Vigne Deriu is an attractive, mid-weight wine with fragrant aromatics and good varietal character. Sweet herbs, mint, tobacco and dried cherries linger on the finish. This forward Cannonau is best enjoyed over the next two to three years. Best of all, it is a terrific value.

GAMBERO ROSSO
A first appearance in great style for this small winery…the Cannonau ’06 is complex on the nose while on the palate is soft and correctly tannic. The Vermentino ’07 has particular aromatics such as geranium and sage and is rather dep in the mouth.

VINO AL VINO – Franco Ziliani
The Vermentino ’07 is full of character, fragrant, open, intensely aromatic with notes of white flowers, almond, hazelnut and white peach. In the mouth it is richly fruity, dynamic and balanced with a little pleasant bitter vein in the end.

LAVINUM
The Cannonau from this very interesting winery offers a clear picture of the strength and expressive power of this grape. On the nose is intensely fruity with black and wild cherry and notes of mint, licorice and cocoa. On the palate is ripe and sweet but with vigorous tannins and good acidity.
