ROBERT PARKER Wine Advocate (antonio Galloni) # 179
2004 Guidobono Barolo 88 pts
The 2004 Barolo from Guidobono is a big, sturdy offering packed with ripe dark fruit, menthol, spices and licorice. Although the wine opens up prettily in the glass and offers good depth, the tannins remain somewhat large-grained and rustic. Still, this is a promising effort, and a few years in bottle should help the wine find slightly better balance than where it is today.
Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019.

2005 Guidobono Barolo 89pts The 2005 Barolo offers up floral red fruits, spices, menthol and tobacco in a medium-bodied style. The wine gains volume and depth in the glass, showing lovely density even if the tannins could use a touch more polish. Bottle age will help to some extent. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025 |
